A special night market in Jaipur opens at night: night market on the sail of Jal mahal.

A big announcement by Jaipur municipal corporation about the night market/ modern market. The night market will be organized every weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 7 pm to 1 am on the sail of the world-famous Jal mahal. In this market, approximately  150 shops sell handicrafts, Jaipuri quilts, Sanganeri bed sheets, traditional jewelry, etc. Along with shopping, you can now relish Rajasthani, Punjabi, and South Indian food. This unique concept starts with Jaipur municipal corporation.

Apart from Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, many cities are famous for night market. Tourists are 1st time in even Jaipur has seen roaming and shopping in the market here at night. On the same lines, initiative has been taken to promote night tourism in Pink City Jaipur. This unique concept has been started by Jaipur Municipal Corporation.

A glimpse of Rajasthan’s traditional hat to modern market will be seen in the two-day-a-week night market on the sail of the world-famous Jal mahal. The market was put up for the first time on Monday as a demo.

This market will be special

Around 150 shops selling handicrafts, Jaipuri quilts, Sanganeri bed sheets, traditional jewelry, brass, clay and copper utensils, blue pottery, Jaipuri juttis and bandhej sarees can be purchased amidst colorful lighting on a 525-meter sail.

Along with shopping, you can now relish Rajasthani, Punjabi and South Indian food. Apart from this, artists will be seen performing folk dance to promote Rajasthani culture.

Foreign tourists also reached in large numbers on Monday night in the night market on the sail of Jal mahal. Apart from 40 food stalls, 110 handicraft, life light and fashion shops were set up from 7 pm to 1 am. The people who came with their families also enjoyed the culture night a lot.

Magic play, Rajasthani dance, puppet dance, Rajasthani folk songs, Rajasthani folk dance with Dhol-Nagade included Kalbelia dance, Bhawai dance, Chari dance, Kachhi Ghodi and Punjabi Dhol.

Grandson encouraged grandfather’s work                                       

There was a lot of crowd in the night market from saris to quilts, handicrafts and decoration shops. Vishnu, the owner of Blue Pottery and Marble Art Centre, said that his grandfather used to make blue pottery.

After that his brother thought of making this work a family business. They say that this is the art of our Jaipur. Can’t let it end like this. Now the whole family does the same thing together.

Vishnu and his family have been in the pottery making business for 40 years. Quartz stone is grinded and shaped by mixing multani mitti, gum, rock salt. After making a design on that vessel and coloring it, it is cooked in a furnace.

After baking, ceramic glaze is applied on it for shining. Vishnu says that it takes 40 days to make pottery. Pottery items ranging from Rs 80 to about Rs 6,000 are available in the market.

A good initiative to promote Rajasthani culture

Rajasthani artists  that Night Bazaar is a good initiative to promote Rajasthani culture and tourism. Jaipurites have liked this event done on a trial basis. The people who came here said that such events should continue to be held in Jaipur.

With such an event, we will get an opportunity to take our regional culture to the people, as well as the income will also increase. This was a trial run of Night Bazaar. Now this market will be organized every Saturday and Sunday.

Nadeem, who brought his family perfume method to Night Bazaar, told that he is the 5th generation of his family. His family has been making perfumes in different ways from generation to generation and selling them to people. Every perfume has its own special design bottle.

Nadeem said that in this market he has brought perfumes made of flowers and organic things from Jasmine, Ayan, Sandalwood etc. in which Ayan’s perfume is very old and precious. Here in the market, these perfumes are available in the price range from ₹ 100 to ₹ 5000.
